Observations about Montréal
#5: Escalator etiquette. I've mentioned this to some before, and it's a simple thing but it gives me great pleasure. Here, when you come up out of the subway on the escalators, people stay on the right hand side allowing others (me) to walk up quickly. In Australia, people stand in couples or groups or right in the middle so that there is no choice for you but to stand still, ascending at a ridiculously slow pace, feeling pretty much trapped. So thank you Montréal, for letting me use my legs!
#6: The supermarkets don't seem to stock free-range eggs or chooks. I keep looking, but I can't see 'em..
#7: Nobody else here thinks squirrels are cute. I myself can't get enough of them. Yesterday I saw one which was pure white - my first albino sciuridae encounter. I thought it was beautiful.

I only just realised that I don't get an email when you update your blog, so just caught up. Love reading it!
And I looooove squirrels. You can occasionally meet them in Belgium and Holland too, but not in the city, only in the forest.
And I also can't stand people blocking the escalator! And little things DO matter!
Oh, and no free range eggs: meanies!
No, no email alerts here. I just log into the dashboard every couple of days to see who's updated. I'm glad you like reading it Lin! I know I can waffle on a bit... :)
So yes - this is escalator heaven and my legs are getting plenty of work here - I'm walking so much more than when I had my car... and escalator blockers. As for the squirrels, they're a delight for someone who comes from a land not full of them...
And the eggs? Maybe a local will read this and point me in the right direction - there's a fair bit of 'bio' produce here (organic) so it would be surprising if there was no FR meet/eggs.

i don't understand what is free range eggs, but we buy our eggs at marché Jean-Talon, and it's bio. You can buy 6 or 12. ... or more. : ) is that what you are looking for.

Bio in Belgium means organic though and is not necessarily free-range?

I think in this case, Bio eggs are what I'm after. I can't wait for my huge plate of scrambled eggs with herbs and feta and buttery toast mmm
